Description
Silicon carbide and non-woven nylon fibres are bonded together using resin to create these versatile discs. Silicon carbide is a synthetic mineral that is very sharp and commonly used for low-pressure applications such as preparation prior to painting and general surface cleaning. While silicon carbide breaks down faster than aluminum oxide, it produces a superior finish with a sharp, consistent cut without gouging or damaging the surface of the workpiece.
As the disc wears the resin bonds breaks down gradually revealing new fibers and sharp abrasive, giving a consistent cut over the life of the disc. Additionally the open weave of the nylon fibers permits air flow and prevents clogging. The sharp-cutting nature of silicon carbide in conjunction with the open web make this product well suited for removing surface coatings, sealants, rust removal, weld cleaning, and paint removal.
