One of Those Tools You Didn’t Know You Needed

Posted by Greg McKenzie on 19th Jan 2026

Honestly, this pruning saw is brilliant. It’s one of those tools you pick up thinking it’ll be handy… then realise it completely replaces half the effort you used to put in. I’ve been using it for pruning branches and general tidy-ups around the yard, and it just chews through stuff with ease. It’s compact, well balanced, and feels really safe and controllable in the hand — not heavy or awkward like a full chainsaw. Plenty of power for its size, and because it’s cordless you just grab it and go. No pulling cords, no fuel, no noise drama. What surprised me most is how useful it is. It’s perfect for those jobs that are too big for secateurs but don’t justify dragging out a chainsaw. It cuts cleanly, quickly, and makes pruning far less of a chore. If you’re already on Makita LXT batteries and do any sort of garden maintenance, this thing is a no-brainer. I’d recommend it to anyone who wants to work smarter and save their arms for something more enjoyable.
