What's the difference between a keyed and combination padlock?
A keyed padlock uses a physical key to unlock, while a combination model uses a rotating dial or push-button code. Keyed locks are fast to open if you've got the key on hand, but you risk losing access if the key goes missing. Combination locks remove that risk (no key to lose or duplicate), but they can take a bit longer to open, especially in the dark or with gloves on. Both styles work well for securing tool trailers, gates, and storage, so it comes down to how you manage access on site.
How does a key safe work?
A key safe lets you store spare keys in a locked box that's mounted to a wall, fence, or post. You set a combination code, and only people with that code can open the box and grab the key inside. It's a solid option for trades who need to share site access with subcontractors, landlords managing multiple properties, or facility managers running shift-based crews. The portable models can be moved between sites as needed.
Are industrial padlocks weatherproof?

What size shackle do I need for a gate lock?
Shackle size depends on what you're locking. Thin gates or hasps need a shorter shackle, usually 20–40mm clearance. Thicker chain links, double gates, or bulky hasps need a long shackle of 50mm or more. Measure the gap you're locking through before you buy, and make sure the shackle diameter is thick enough to resist cutting. Heavy-duty chains and gates benefit from 10mm+ diameter shackles for added strength.
