I purchased a Metabo BAS318 band saw from TKD Midland. It's a good quality German product and should rarely cause problems; however, in my case there was a primary motor failure, with only a motionless hum after the first few seconds of operation. It seems likely to be a capacitor failure. I contacted Gary at TKD after-sales and must admit I was expecting general hassles, difficulties getting the fully assembled and heavy saw back to TKD; and a long wait for repairs. Thanks to Gary none of these concerns eventuated. I received a very prompt and friendly same-day set of responses to my contact with a most satisfactory outcome. Gary was able to replace the faulty saw with one from the shop floor; and within a couple of working days Gary and Tim delivered the replacement saw, fully assembled, to my home workshop (and took away the faulty one). Although the replacement saw was very slightly shop-soiled, I much preferred this than waiting for a repair, as it enabled me to get straight on with my project. Sensible customers appreciate that occasional product failures are inevitable; but what's important is how the seller treats the customer under these circumstances. In this regard, my experience suggests that TDK has your back. Well done Gary, Tim & TDK Midland!
